I just read a very interesting article about Chinese people. The main theme of the article is to introduce the reason why Chinese people are living averagely longer than Americans and Germans. The answer to that question is laughter. Chinese have better attitude in dealing with things in life than rest of the world. The word “Laughter” in Chinese pronounced as ” xiao”. However, there are many different types of “xiao” in China. For instance, when you are in the good mood, you wanna laugh as ” wei xiao”. And if you are bursting into laughter after a joke, you might “kuang yan huan xiao!” Or you really don’t know how to respond to a question where you are embarrassed, you might feel ” xiao bu cheng ku!” Anyway, according to Chinese people, there are so many ways to laugh and there are millions of reasons to laugh. Let’s see my grandfather for example. Since I was a kid, he always had a beautiful smile on his face. He always made me happy by telling me his childhood story or making a story up to scare me. I was the apple of his eyes and never got out of his sight. In the morning, he usually got up early and went to work out in the gym or ran around the park as exercise. He was really in good shape, even in his early 70s. He was a people person and loved to enjoy talking to people and inviting them to home for meals and chatting. Since it is well-known that Chinese people are very good at eating and making food, (that’s the reason why tons of Chinese people open restaurants after coming to US) my grandfather was a great chef as well. Because of his positive and kindness for others, people are drawn to know him better and becoming closer friends. Life is so unpredictable, in 1996, my grandfather was sick and living in the hospital for couple months. At that time, he was in his early 80s. Despite of the circumstances, he was still smiling and joking with people there. Every time I went to see him, I was very sorry for him and wanted to comfort him with my love. He told me he was so blessed with all the modern technology in the hospital to help me get better, and have families around he when needs us. His great attitude really made me proud of being his grandson. Ten years later, he is now being with the Lord. But whenever I think about him, I always have the great smiling image in my mind. My grandfather is only one of the many great Chinese people in China. In China, we are not trying to be famous, to be wealthy, to be influential, all we want is to be able to say “I live the life to the fullness” at the end. I guess the reason we are doing so well, part of the reasons are humble attitude dealing with people, great kindness in treating people and non stoppable passion in loving people!
